epiphytes small plants; live on branches of tall trees because they cant live on the forest floor.
tundra cold biome; ground is permanetly frozen solid at the depth of 10-36 inches; growing season is 2 months
tundra plants/animals grasses, sedges, mosses, and lichens/ caribou, ox, snowey owls, artic fox

rain shadow effect A rain shadow is an area of land that is shadowed from receiving moisture. Such an area will not be totally shadowed from all precipitation, but the total amount will be reduced because nearby mountains block moisture-bearing wind from reaching this area.
biomes made of many different types of ecosystems; they are very large terrestrial ecosystems that contain specific kinds of plants and animals; they are influenced by climate and altitude
climate the temp and precipitation of an area over a long period of time
altitude refers to the elevation above sea level
