Habitats Quiz

What is extinct? It means that this type of animal no longer exists.
What is a prey? It is something that is hunted in the wild by another animal.
What is a carnivore? It is a consumer that only eats meat.
What does endangered mean? It means that the animal is in danger of extinction because its' population is decreasing rapidly.
What is a habitat? It is is a place where animals and plants live.
What is an omnivore? It is an animal that eats both plants and animals.
What is a herbivore? It is an animal that only eats plants.
What is migration? It is an adaptation of a bird or butterfly where it flies south in the winter as it cannot survive in the cold conditions.
What is hibernation? It is an adaptation where an animal sleeps through the winter as it cannot survive in the cold weather nor find good food sources.
What is a decomposer? It is a living thing that gets its energy by breaking down dead plants and animals.
What does the word HIPPO stand for? H-Habitat Destruction, I-Invasive Species, P-Pollution, P-Population and O-Overhunting
What does an animal require in order to survive? Food, water, space and shelter.
What is an adaptation? Special features of a living thing that help it survive.
What is a consumer? It is a living thing that cannot make its' own food. They get their energy by eating animals and/or plants.
What is a predator? It is something that hunts other animals for food.
What is a producer? It is a living that that makes its own food from sunlight, air and soil.
Many animals adapt in this habitat by growing fur to keep them warm. Arctic
Cactus plants that live here store water in their stems and roots. Desert
It means barren land. Tundra
Animals that live here have to be very fast as there are few places to hide. Grasslands
Animals that live here have to adapt to all four seasons. Temperate Forest Habitats
Animals that live here come in all shapes, colours, and sizes. Water Habitats (Fresh and Salt)
What does imprinting mean? When an animal starts to recognize another animal or substitute as its' parent.
