Producer organism that make their own food, energy that is residual and not used get passed up to next trophic level
Consumer organisms that can not make their own energy are called consumers.
Primary consumer all herbivores , most of the energy is used by the consumer, some of the energy moves into the atmosphere as heat. some energy is available to a secondary consumer
Secondary consumer omnivore,carnivore or scavenger, most of the energy the secondary consumer get is used to maintain itself, some energy can be passed up to tertiary consumer
Tertiary consumer third order consumer eats secondary consumers. omnivore, carnivore or scavenger.
Omnivore organism that eats plants and animals
Carnivore Consumers who only eat other consumers. can also be scavengers.
Scavenger Consumers that eat other consumers that already have died are called scavengers. never kills own food.
decomposes organisms which break down dead organic matter so that nutrients can be reused by plants
Food chain transfer of energy from sun to producer to tertiary consumer can be shown in a food chain
Food webs interconnected food chains, show feeding relationships in an ecosystem.
Ecosystem a system that in which living things interact with themselves and their non-living environment in such a way that the entire system is perpetuated.
