Science Ecology

QuestionAnswer
Producers The organisms that made them own food.
Consumers The organisms that cannot make them own energy.
Primary consumers The consumer that eat producer to get energy.
Herbivores The consumer that eat others to get energy. (Plant-eaters)
Secondary consumer The consumer that eat a primary consumer for energy.
Tertiary consumer The consumers that eat the secondary consumers to get energy.
Omnivores The consumers that eat producers & other consumers.
Carnivores The consumers that only eat other consumers. (Meat eaters)
Scavengers The consumers that eat other consumers that have already died.
Decomposers The organisms which break down dead organic matter so that the nutrients can be reused by plants.
Food chain Is the transfer of energy from sun to producer to primary consumer to secondary consumer to tertiary.
Food webs Are interconnected food chains.
Ecosystem A system in which living things interact with themselves and their non-living environment in such a way that the entire system is perpetuated.
