| Producer | Producers use most of the energy they make for themselves |
| Consumers | Organisms that cannot make their own energy are called consumers |
| Primary consumers | Consumers that eat producers to get energy |
| Secondary consumer | A consumer that eats a primary consumer for energy |
| Thertiary consumer | A consumer that eats a secondary consumer |
| Omnivores | Omnivores eat plants and animals |
| Carnivores | Consumers that only eat other consumers |
| Scavengers | Consumers that eat other consumers that have already died are called scavengers |
| Decomposers | Organisms which break down dead organic matter so that the nutrients can be reused by plants |
| Food Chain | The transfer of energy from sun to producer to primary consumer to secondary consumer to tertiary consumer can be shown in a food chain |
| Food Webs | In terconnected food chains, they show the feeding relationships in an ecosystem |
| Ecosystem | A ecosystem in which living things interact with themselves and their non-living environment in such a way that the entire system is perpetuated |
