QuestionAnswer
what is a producer? Producers use cellular respiration to supply the energy they need to live. Cellular respiration is the chemical reaction that releases the energy in glucose.
What is a (primary) consumer? Organisms that cannot make their own energy are called consumers. Consumers that eat producers to get energy are primary consumers, and are herbivores.
What is a herbivore? A herbivore is a plant eater
What is a secondary consumer? A secondary consumer is the one who eats the primary consumer, is a carnivore, omnivore, or scavenger.
What is a third or tertiary consumer? A third consumer is the one who eats the secondary consumer, is a carnivore, omnivore, or scavenger.
What is an omnivore? A omnivore is something that eats plants and other animals.
What are carnivores? A carnivore is something that only eats meat.
What is a scavenger? A scavenger is a consumer that eats already dead concumers.
What is a decomposer? A decomposer is an organism which breaks down dead organic matter so that the nutrients can be reused by plants.
What is a food chain? A food chain is the transfer of energy from sun to producer, to primary consumer, to secondary consumer, to tertiary consumer.
What is a food web? A food web is interconnected food chains. They show the feeding relationships in an ecosystem.
What is an ecosystem? A system in which living things interact with themselves and their non-living environment in such a way that the entire system is perpetuated.
