What are the functions of the 5' G-Cap and the 3' Poly-A tail added to transcripts in Eukaryotes? The 5' G-Cap prevents mRNA degradation. The 3' Poly-A tail promotes export from the nucleus and translation.
Which enzyme complex splices newly made transcripts? The spliceosome
What is alternative splicing? It enables one gene to produce different versions of the polypeptide it encodes.
How does abnormal splicing cause B-Thalassemia? Abnormal splicing causes B-Thalassemia by reducing red blood cells and reducing B-globin levels.
How could abnormal splicing lead to cancer? It can lead to cancer due to notn following checkpoints in cell cycle.
