Sperms consists of what? Acrosome, Head, Middle piece, Tail
First seven days of development are spent where? In the ovary and oviduct
What does the pill do? 1.Prevents ovulation 2.Thickens cervix preventing sperm from entering 3.Changes the uterus lining to decrease possibility of implantation
Step one fertilization The sperm makes it's way through the adhering follicle cells
Step two fertilization Acrosomal enzymes digest a portion of the zona pellucida
Step three fertilization Sperm binds to and fuses with egg plasma membrane
Step four fertilization Sperm nucleus enters cytoplasm of egg
Step five fertilization Sperm and egg nuclei fuse to produce a zygote
embryonic period first two months of development
After fertilization what does the embryo become? multicellular
What does the zygote undergo? cleavage
Does the cleavage increase in size as number of cells divide? no volume stays the same!
A tightly packed ball of cells is called what? morula
As the morula ball of cells continues to divide what else happens? the cells secrete fluid into the center of the ball of cells
A hollow ball of cells is called what? blastocyst or blastula
