Where does Meiosis occur in Humans? Gametes/Ovaries (Eggs) & in the testicles of the men.
Where does Meiosis occur in Plants? The anthers (male) & carpels (female)
How do yeast benefit from Meiosis?
Must we produce 1N Gametes to maintain chromosome number from generation to generation? Yes.
Does Non-Disjunction during Meiosis lead to Aneuploidy and Genetic disorders? Yes.
When do Homologous chromosomes separate? Meiosis I, or Meiosis II? Meiosis I
Do sister chromosomes separate during Meiosis I or Meiosis II? Meiosis II (Anaphase II)
Does Meiosis generate genetic variation in populations? Yes.
How are new allele combinations generated on each homologous chromosome? Crossing-Over
Why is genetic variation beneficial for populations? Because it helps the population to natrually select.
Can the chromosomes in your haploid gametes you produce have alleles from both of your parents chromosomes due to crossing over? Yes.
Can your genome contain chromosomes from each of your four grandparents? Yes.
