| Primary Consumer | Consumer that eats producers to get their energy. They are herbivores |
| Herbivore | An organism that only eats plants |
| Omnivore | An organism that eats meat and vegetation |
| Carnivore | An organism that eats only meat |
| Secondary Consumer | A consumer that eats another consumer for energy. Can be a carnivore, omnivore, or scavenger |
| Tertiary Consumer | A consumer that eats a consumer that already ate a consumer. Can be a carnivore, omnivore, or a scavenger |
| Food Chain | The transfer of energy from the sun to producer to primary consumer to tertiary consumer |
| Scavenger | Consumers that eat other consumers that have already died |
| Food Web | Interconnected food chain that shows the feeding relationships in an ecosystem |
| Decomposer | Organisms which break down dead organic matter so that the nutrients can be reused by plants |
| Ecosystem | A system in which living things interact with themselves and their non-living environment in such a way that the entire system is perpetuated |
