depressant a drug that slows down the activity of the body
nonsmoking section a part of a public place set aside for people who do not smoke.
passive smoke tobacco smoke that is inhaled by someone other than the smoker
inhalant a legal substance that gives of gas at room temperature; may be abused by breathing it in on purpose
prescription a written order from a doctor usually for medicine.
marijuana a drug made from the crushed leaves flowers, and seeds of the cannabis plant
stimulant a drug that speeds up activity of the body
cocaine a stimulant made from the coca plant
nicotine
drug a substance, other than food, that causes changes in the body
tar a sticky brown substance found in tobacco
tobacco a plant; its leaves are dried and made into cigarettes, cigars, and smokeless tobacco
medicine a drug used to prevent, treat, or cure a disease or injury
abuse to use an illegal drug, or to use a legal drug in an unsafe way on purpose
misuse to use a legal drug improperly or in an unsafe way
