Vocabulary Flashcards for Genetics

WordDefinition
Heredity The passing of traits from parents to offspring.
Gregor Mendel The Father of Genetics.
Dominant Trait The trait that appears in the first generation.
Recessive Trait The trait that is hidden in the first generation.
Ratio A relationship between two different numbers that is often expressed as a fraction.
Genes The instructions for an inherited trait
Alleles The different versions of a gene
Phenotype An organism's appearance.
Genotype The organism's genetic code.
Probability The mathematical chance that something will happen.
