Where does glycolysis occur? Cytoplasm
How many ATP does glycolysis form? Net ATP? is it efficient? 4. 2. no
What occurs during the oxidation step? where? Electrons are stripped to form acetyl CoA. Mitochondria
What are 2 ways ATP is formed? 1. Substrate level phosphorylation 2. oxidative phosphorylation
What type of phosphorylation is used in glycolysis? Substrate level
What are the 4 steps to aerobic respiration? 1. glucose->pyruvate(glycolysis) 2. pyruvate->acetyl CoA 3. krebs cycle 4. electron transport chain
What is the process that uses primarily oxidative phosphorylation to make ATP? Cellular respiration
How many steps are in glycolysis? 10
What is the 1st step to glycolysis? Add 2 ATP to glucose to form Fructose 1-6 diphosphate
What is the 2nd step to glycolysis? Cleavage- split fructose 1-6 diphosphate to form 2 glyceraldehyde 3 phosphates
What is the 3rd step to glycolysis? Oxidation- strip electrons give to NAD. add phosphate to each to for 1-3 biphosphoglycerate.
What is the 4th step to glycolysis? ATP generation- give extra phosphates to ADP after forming pyruvate
What are the 2 types of cellular respiraton/describe 1. Aerobic-uses oxygen 2. Anaerobic- doesnt use oxygen

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.

To see how well you know the information, try the Quiz or Test activity.
