QuestionAnswer
What is an autotroph? Plants that make their own energy via photosynthesis. Sunlight>CO2>mud. Take apart simple sugar molecules.
What is a heterotroph? An organism has to go out to find food and ingest it.
What are chloroplasts? Plants have evolved this special organelle.
What is the color spectrum wave length? From high to low: Gamma rays,x rays, uv rays, infrared heat, radio waves.
What color frequency do plants use? Blueish and reddish frequency
What is light dependent reaction? Need light to work, utilize high electron molecules
What does NADPH do? carry energy using ATP to make enough energy to use to make sugar molecule
What occurs in Photosystem I? Chlorophyll hit by sunlight energy, electrons within chlorophyll absorb energy at 700 nm to excite electrons to bounce up to another orbital.Excited electrons are grabbed by electron receptor molecule. For every 2 electrons you make an ATP.
What occurs in photosystem II? (2 ADP make 2 ATP) to photosystem I apart of electron acceptor 2. 2 ATP grabbed by NADPH molecule to take to light independent reaction to make sugar molecule
What is photolysis? Slice H2O into 2 hydrogen + 2 electrons +1 Oxygen =NADPH, 2 electrons get lost to be replaced. Oxygen given off as waste gas
What is the Calvin cycle? Keep putting in 6 carbon dioxide help for sugar molecules to eventually store the sugar as starch to use in aerobic respiration
What is the function of light independent reactions? Make sugar molcules

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
