| What is Linkage? | When 2 genes are close on the same chromosome, they tend to be transmitted to the offspring as a unit |
| Why was the Hypothesis of Independent Assortment rejected? | Because in another experiment with sweet pea plant, the ratios were off. The offspring had a tendency to more closely resemble the parents. |
| What is a parental genotype? | Same as linkage. The genes on the same chromosome are usually inherited together. |
| What is a recombinant genotype? | The recombination of alleles through crossing over during meiosis |
| Is cross-over more likely to occur between farther apart genes or closer genes? Why? | Farther apart because closer genes are more likely to transfer as a unit |
| What is a single nucleotide polymorphism? | When a single letter in the DNA chain is changed |
