What is used to measure blood pressure? Sphygmomanometer
What does the top number in blood pressure represent Systolic pressure
What does the lower number represent? Diastolic pressure
What units are used for blood pressure measurements? Millimetres of mercury
What is 'Normal' blood pressure? 120/80
To what pressure is the cuff inflated before measuring? 200 mm Hg
What happens to blood flow when the cuff is inflated? It stops
What happens as the cuff is slightly deflated The blood starts to flow in the arteries
What is a 'pulse' It is the artery stretching as the blood passes
What is a stroke? Bleeding on the brain, or clot in brain blood vessel
What is angina? Heart pain as insufficient oxygen reaching it
Which phase of the cardiac cycle causes the pulse? Ventricular systole
