What are Gametes? Sex cells
What is the name of the male gamete? Sperm

The testes secrete which hormone? Testosterone

What is the name of the gland that secretes mucus? Prostate gland
When sperm and the mucus is mixed together what is it called? Semen
Where is the mixture of sperm and mucus ejaculated out of? Sperm duct
What is the male sex organ called? Testes
What is a zygote? Fertilised egg
What is the acrosome? The tip of the sperm which contains enzymes to digest a pathway into the egg cells
The ovaries produce two hormones what are they? Oestrogen and Progesterone
What is implantation? When the embryo embeds itself into the soft lining of the uterus
What is the placenta? Is disc shaped, containing many villi surrounded by blood in the uterus and is used for the diffusion of blood in and out of the baby
What is the amnion? A sac which contains amnioitc fluid to protect the fetus from mechanical damage
What is the beginning of labour? When the mother starts to feel small contractions of the uterus wall
What is the afterbirth? When the placenta comes out of the vagina
Give one reason for why breast feeding is good for babies? Contains antibodies
What is passive immunity? When the baby has the mothers antibodies inside the baby
What is ovulation? The release of an egg from the oviduct
