why are many sperms produced? to increase the chance of some reaching the oviduct

what immediately forms around a fertilised egg? a membrane
another word for egg? zygote
how long can a sperm stay alive for? 2 or 3 days
what happens when the egg is fertilised? it divides
whats formed from embryonic tissue? placenta
what joins the fetus to the placenta? umbilical cord
how long does pregnancy last? 9 months
when does the fetuses heart start beating? 4 weeks
what foods does the fetus obtain from the mother? glucose, amino acids, fats, mineral ions, vitamins, water
