Functions of parts of a cell

QuestionAnswer
flagellum Helps the bacterium move via the filament, hook and basal body.
capsule Protective layer to deter infection-fighting agents
cell wall 1) Holds the contects together, 2) regulates the amount of water the cell can hold and 3) holds the cell's shape
plasma membrane Protects the cell by regulating what can and cannot enter the cell.
cytoplasm Semi-fluid substance that supports the DNA and ribosomes.
DNA Holds all the information to make a living entity.
Ribosomes Chemical factories that make proteins.
Fimbria Used for grasping 1) surfaces so the bacterium can hold on or 2) other bacteria as part of reproduction.
