| Compound Light Microscope | A microscope that uses a series of lenses to magnify objects in steps. |
| Cell Theory | 1.) All organisms are composed of one or more cells. 2.) The cell is the basic unit of structure and organization of organisms. 3.) All cells come from preexisting cells. |
| Electron Microscope | A microscope that uses a beam of electrons instead of light to magnify structures up to 500,000 times their size. |
| Organelles | Small, specialized structures that are in all cells. |
| Prokaryotic Cells | Cells that do not have membrane-bound organelles. (Pro = Before) |
| Eukaryotic Cells | Cells that do have membrane-bound organelles. (Eu = True) |
| Nucleus | The central membrane-bound organelle that manages or controls cellular functions. |
| Specialization | Division of labor, or dividing of the work. |
| Interdependence | When you forget and/or don't know how to do everything. Depending on someone else to do the work. |
