Active Transport Movement of molecules from low density to higher density, requiring energy.
Chloroplast Cell structure found in plants where photosynthesis occurs.
Diffusion Movement of molecules from areas of high density to lower density.
Eukaryotes Cells that have a true nucleus.
Golgi Apparatus Cell structure that packages materials to be moved out of the cell.
Hypertonic A solution where the concentration of dissolved materials outside the cell is higher than inside, causing the cell to shrink.
Hypotonic A solution where the concentration of dissolved material inside the cell is higher than outside, causing the cell to swell.
Microscopic Too small to be seen with only the eye.
Mitochondria Cell structures that make energy (ATP) from food.
Nucleus Cell structure that contains the genetic material (DNA).
Organelle One of the small structures in the cell with a special job.
Osmosis Movement of water from areas of high density to lower density.
Plasma Membrane Covers a cell's surface and controls what gets in and out.
Prokaryotes Cells that do not have a true nucleus.
Ribosome Cell structure where proteins are made.
