Biogeochemical Cycle The cycle were energy and matter are being recycled and reused
Ground Water Water that is in the soil or underground
Water Cycle The process of water between different resoivures
Transpiration When plants take in water through there roots and they release water and take in carbon dioxide through their leaves
Carbon Cycle Photosynthesis and cellular repsiration for the basis for the short term cycle
Nitrogen Cycle The process were nitrogen and its compounds are interconverted in the environment
Nitrogen Fixation The process of converting N2 gas to a nitrate
Nitrogen Fixing Bacteria The process of tansforming nitrogen gas into a useable form
Ammonification The process that nitrogen is made available to others
Nitrification soil bacteria take up ammonium and oxidize it into nitrates
Denitrification Occurs when anaerobic bacteria break down nitrates and release nitrogen gas into the atmosphere
Phosphorus The movement of phosphurus form the environment to organisms and then back to the environment
