habitat place where an organism lives.
biotic factor living components of the environment.
abiotic factor nonliving
tolerance curve graph of performance versus values of an environmental variable (such as temp.)
acclimation process where some organisms can adjust their tolerance to abiotic factors.
conformer organisms that do not regulate their internal conditions; they change as their external environment changes.
regulator organisms that use energy to control some of their internal conditions.
dormancy state of reduced activity
migration process of moving to a more favorable habitat.
niche specific role or way of life of an organism within its envirinment.
generalist species w/ broad niches; can tolerate a range of conditions and use a variety of resources.
specialist species that have narrow niches.
