Ecology The study of the interactions between living things and their environment
Producer An organism that uses energy from the Sun or other chemical reactions to make their own food
Photosynthesis A process that producers use to make their own food using energy from sunlight
Consumer Organisms who can't make their own food
Protozoan Single-celled, animal-like protists
Herbivore Animals that only eat plants
Carnivore Animals that only eat other animals
Omnivore Animals that feed on other animals and plants
Decomposer Organisms that break down dead organisms, animal droppings, dead leaves, and other wastes
Scavenger Organisms that eat dead animals, like crows or vultures eating roadkill.
