| regulator | organisms that use energy to control some their internal conditions |
| dormancy | a state in which seeds, spores, bulbs, and other reproductive organs stop growth and development and reduce their metabolism, especially resperation |
| migration | a movement of individuals or populations from one location to to another |
| niche | the unique position occupied by a species, both in terms of its physical use of its habitat and its function with in an ecological community |
| generalist | species with broad niches; cna tolerate a range of conditions |
