| Ecology | The study of the interactions that take place between organisms and their environment. |
| Biosphere | The portion of Earth that supports living things. |
| Abiotic Factors | Nonliving parts of an environment |
| Biotic Factors | Living parts of an environment |
| Populations | All the members of a single species that live in one area |
| Communities | All the populations that live and interact in one environment |
| Ecosystems | All the populations (biotic) and abiotic factors in an area. |
| Habitat | Place where an organism lives |
| Niche | The role or position a species has in its enviornemt. How it meets its specific needs for food and shelter, how and where it survives, and where it reproduces in its environment. |
| Mutualism | Two organisms interact and both benefit from the relationship. |
| Parasitism | One organism lives off of another. One organism benefits and one organisms if harmed. |
| Commensalism | One organism benefits and the other is unharmed. |
| Herbivore | Hererotroph that only eat plants |
| Carnivore | Organism that only eats other organisms. |
| Scavengers | Organisms that eat dead and decaying animals. |
| Preditor | Organisms that find and eat other organisms |
| Prey | Organisms that are eaten |
