What is a signal sequence? Sequence given to polypeptide chains so they can enter into the lumen of the ER
Whatis another name for the lumen of the ER? Cisternal space
What takes place in the rough ER? Protein synthsis
What takes place in the smooth ER? Lipid synthesis, detoxification of drugs, and intracellular storage of calcium
What does the smooth ER look like? not flat
Carbohydrate+Protein= Glycoprotein
Lipid+Protein= Lipoprotein
What does the Golgi body look like? Flat, membrane bound, lumen in middle, polar
