What is the cytoplasm? semi-fluid matrix containing dissolved chemicals as well as not dissolved ribosomes
What takes place in the ribosomes? Protein synthesis
What are the 2 types of cells? Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic
Which is larger prokaryotic or Eukaryotic cells? Eukaryotic cells
Which type of cells are in animals and plants? Eukaryotic cells
What type of cells are in bacteria and archaea? Prokaryotic cells
What are some properties of prokaryotc cells? 1. no membrane bound organells 2. small ribosomes 3. 1 circular piece of DNA 4. nucleoid region 5. peptidoglycin cell walls 6. turns gram stain purple 7. propellerlike flagellum
What are some properties of Eukaryotic cells? 1. membrane bound organelles 2. large ribosomes 3. multiple pieces of straight DNA 4. Typically 1 large nucleus 5. grahm stain red 6. nucleolus in center of nucleus here transcription takes place
