What is hue? | The name given to a color |
What does intensity mean? | The brightness or dullness of a color |
What are the three components of the color wheel? | Primary, secondary, intermediate (tertiary) |
What are the primary colors? | red blue and yellow |
What are the secondary colors? | violet green and orange |
What are the tertiary colors? | red-violet blue-violet blue-green yellow-green yellow-orange red-orange |
How do you make primary colors? | You cannot achieve these colors by mixing any other colors together |
How do you make secondary colors? | They are achieved from equal parts of 2 primary colors |
How do you make tertiary/intermediate colors? | When you mix equal parts of 1 primary and 1 secondary color |
What does the word tint mean? | A value lighter than that on the color wheel |
What does the word shade mean? | A value darker thatn that on the color wheel |
What color is added to create a tint? | Add white |
What color is added to create a shade? | Add black |
What does a Monochromatic Harmony/Scheme mean? | One hue with different tints and shades |
What does a Complimentary Harmony/Scheme mean? | 2 colors that are directly across from each other on the color wheel |
What does a Analogous Harmony/Scheme mean? | 3 or more colors next to each other on the color wheel |
How many colors from the color wheel are represented in a Monochromatic Harmony/Scheme? | 1 color is being represented |
How many colors from the color wheel are represented in a Complimentary Harmony/Scheme? | 2 colors are being represented |
How many colors fro the color wheel are represented in an Analogous Harmony/Scheme? | 3 or more colors are being represented |
What colors are considered warm colors? | orange red and yellow |
What colors are considered cool colors? | blue green (violet) |
What colors are considered neutral colors? | tans browns and whites |
What colors are on each side of the color Blue on the color wheel? | blue-green and blue-violet |
What colors are on each side of the color Yellow on the color wheel? | yellow-green and yellow-orange |
