What is impact bias? impact bias is the tendency that people have to overestimate how powerfully the event will impact their emotional lives.
What are the four components of Affective forecasting? 1.)Predicting Valence 2.)Predicting Specific Emotions 3.)Predicting Intensity 4.)Predicting Duration
Define Predicting Valence? Predicting How positive or negative a persons feelings will be "I’ll feel good if I get that job!"
Define Predicting Specific Emotions Predicting the specific emotions that people will feel. “I feel joy, disgust, anger, etc.. “
Define Predicting Intensity as one of the four components of Affective Forecasting Predicting what the initial intensity of the reaction will be (How much joy they will experience.)
Define Predicting Duration Predicting what the duration of the reaction will be (How long will it last)
Define Durability Bias People tend to overestimate the impact of future events on their emotional lives. a formula that shows how people overestimate their own emotional reactions People make prediction errors whether it is how joyous they will be or how unhappy they will be
How do you measure affective behavior ? With self report scales like the SWL (Satisfaction with life Scale" or the PANAS Positive and Negative Affect Schedules.
