2. how do benzodiazepines work? lessen anxiety associated with stress by enhancing GABA activity where is binds to the postsynaptic neuron acting like a inhibitor in the brain
3. how do beta blockers work? reduce blood pressure by blocking the beta-adrenergic receptors that adrenline/noradrenaline bind to in the heart and blood vessels acting as inhibitors
4. how is there research support for BZs? effecting in treating anxiety where Baldwin concluded that BZs were significantly better than placebos in reducing acute anxiety thus providing strong evidence thsat BZs are good choice of drug treatment for reducing anxiety
5. how is there research support for BBs? Kelly concluded BBs reduce everyday anxieties associated with exams
6. counterpoint against the research support of BBs? they do not remove the stress itself but only the physical symptom of actue stress thus not a long term solution
7. describe the limitation of drug treatments having side effects well known side effects of BZs are sleepiness and weight gain and BBs can reduce heart rate and blood pressure too much thus having risky problems
8. how is addiction a limitiation? BZs shown to be addictive if used or prolonged periods thus disrupting lives so other treatments may be better
