Example: You always see the movies others want to see and then get upset that you never get to see what you wanted, I.E. Victim Mentality Lose-Win
You are being chased in the woods by a moose with a friend and you realize you only have to be faster then them. Win-Lose
You are in second place in a race and the runner in first makes a wrong turn because the path isn't marked properly. You call them back and then hang back so they can get back into first because it wasn't their fault the path wasn't marked correctly. Win-Win
Roommate stole items from you and didn't pay their rent. Instead of asking why and seeing if they are struggling, you steal back and say it's only fair. I.E. taking revenge. Lose-Lose
How can you make a deposit into someone's EBA? -Find out what their deposits are. -Do small acts of kindness. -Keep confidences -Be loyal to the absent -Set clear expectations -Apologize -Forgive
What are the two rules for making EBA deposits? 1) A deposit is only a deposit when the other person sees it as a deposit. 2) It can take one or more deposits to make up for one withdrawal.
What is Habit #4? The habit associated with effectively building relationships with people by working for their benefit while you are working for your own benefit. Also Think Win Win"
EBA Emotional Bank Account
What is an EBA? The idea that we build relationships using a metaphorical bank account where deposits and withdrawals represent emotional input.
Withdrawal EBA A withdrawal from an EBA means the other party took away from the emotional bank; ex: asked you to attend a seminar and take notes for you.
Neutral EBA This is a transaction that effects both parties equally. Ex: Took coworker to lunch so we could discuss work project.
Deposit EBA When someone makes a deposit into your EBA that they do not gain from. Ex: Bought you tickets to see your favorite band for no special reason.
