Chapter Ten Vocabulary ELS

TermDefinition
accommodations Used to help people with disabilities
application The form used to apply for a job.
apprenticeship A way to learn a trade by working with a master of that trade
compensation Wages and benefits that an employer provides in exchange for work.
extracurricular activities Activities done in addition to attending school.
ideal Perfect, or the best you can think of.
informational interview A talk with a person about their occupation to learn more about it.
internship A temporary job that can provide valuable work experience.
negotiation The process of arranging things you need, usually by giving in on some issues but not on all issues.
nontraditional Seen in a way today that is different from the way it was seen in the past.
occupational grouping A group of jobs that share similar titles and duties.
qualities features that make a person or a thing special.
resume A written summary of work-related skills, experiences, and education.
self-assessment The process of studying your own interests, needs, abilities, and values.
supervise To give directions to another person.
