TermDefinition
Family A group of people related to one another by blood (birth), marriage, or adoption.
Generation All the people who are born and live in about the same time span.
Nuclear Family A married man and women and their biological children.
Single-parent Family One adult who is raising one or more children
Stepfamily A single parent marries.
Extended Family Several generations of relatives.
Foster Family Cares for children who are not related to other family members.
Adoptive Family A couple or single parent decides to raise another person’s child as their own.
Childless Family A couple without children
Guardian Chosen by a family to take responsibility for a child if the parents are no longer able to provide
Role A person’s place in a group...Parents, Siblings (brothers and sisters), Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles, Cousins
