What are the principles of design? Balance, rhythm, proportion/scale, emphasis, unity/harmony
What is the principle repition? Design is copied or repeated through color, form, or texture
How does texture affect color? Smooth textures reflect light and look birghter, shinier, and more intense. Rough textures absorb more light and look darker and duller.
What do curved lines suggest? coziness, comfort, naturalness, delicateness, softness
What is the difference between horizantal, vertical, and radical balance? In vertical balance, top and bottom parts are equal. In horizantal balance, the left and right parts are equal. And in radical balance, elements radiate out from the center.
What do diagnoal lines suggest? movement, activity, and excitement
What is space? An area provided for a specific purpose
What are the four types of rhythm? Gradation, radiation, repetition, and continuous line
What is asymmetrical balance? Example? When parts of a design are not identical but are equal in visual weight. A picture frame on one side and a vase directly on the other
What is the difference between vertical and horizontal lines? vertical lines go up and down and horizontal lines go left to right
What is the golden mean? a 3 to 5 ratio
What's the difference between shape and form? A shape is a 2 demensional object and form is a 3 dimensional object that creates volume and mass.
What are the five types of balance? 1. Symmetrical balance 2. Asymmetrical balance 3. Vertical balance 4. Horizantal balance 5. Radical balance
What does unify and harmony mean? When all elements and principles of design work together to create harmony
What are the two things texture involves? How something feels and how you think something feels
What are the four types of lines? 1. Vertical 2. Horizantal 3. Diagonal 4. Curved
What is proportion? A ratio of one part to another or 1 part to a whole
