Color Terms

QuestionAnswer
What is a monochromatic color scheme? Tints and shades of one color only.
What is an analogous color scheme? Use three or more colors right next to each other on the wheel.
What is an accented neutral color scheme? When there are all neutral colors and then one pop of another color.
What color scheme is 2 colors opposite on the color wheel. Complementary color scheme.
How many colors in a split complementary color scheme? Three colors.
Name the Primary colors. Red, Blue, and Yellow.
Name the secondary colors. Orange, Green, and Violet.
What is the value of a color? Based on the lightness and darkness of a color.
What is the intensity of a color mean? The degree of saturation.
What is the hue? A Hue refers to color itself
How do you make a tint? By adding different amounts of white to a color.
How do you make a shade? By adding different amounts of black to a color.
What are the warm colors? Yellow, Yellow-orange, Orange, Red-orange, Red, Red-violet.
What are the cool colors.? Violet, Blue- violet, Blue, Blue-green, Green, Green-yellow
What are the neutral colors? White, black, gray, tan, and browns
What is unique about the primary colors? You can make any other colors with them
Name 3 tertiary colors. Yellow-orange, Red-orange, and blue-green
What is the proper way to name a tertiary color? Always put the primary color first
What is another name for a tertiary color? intermediate.
What is a triadic color scheme? Three colors equal distance from each other on the wheel.
