Adrenal Glands The outer part of the adrenal glands is known as the cortex and releases hormones including testosterone and cortisol
Broca’s Area a region of the brain concerned with the production of speech, located in the cortex of the dominant frontal lobe
Axon the long threadlike part of a nerve cell along which impulses are conducted from the cell body to other cells
Aphasia loss of ability to understand or express speech, caused by brain damage.
Central Nervous System (CNS) the complex of nerve tissues that controls the activities of the body. In vertebrates it comprises the brain and spinal cord
Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) the part of the nervous system responsible for control of the bodily functions not consciously directed, such as breathing, the heartbeat, and digestive processes.
Dendrite a short branched extension of a nerve cell, along which impulses received from other cells at synapses are transmitted to the cell body.
Sympathetic Nervous System inhibits or opposes the physiological effects of the parasympathetic nervous system, as in tending to reduce digestive secretions or speed up the heart.
Parasympathetic Nervous System is responsible for regulation of internal organs and glands
Wernicke’s Area a region of the brain concerned with the comprehension of language, located in the cortex of the dominant temporal lobe
Parietal lobes either of the paired lobes of the brain at the top of the head, including areas concerned with the reception and correlation of sensory information.
