Heart | The organ that pumps the blood through the body. |
Blood | A tissue that is made up of cells, fluid, and other substances. |
Blood Vessels | Tubes that transport blood and nutrients to other parts of the body. |
Hemiglobin | The oxygen carrying pigment in the red blood cells of the blood. |
Atrium | A chamber of the heart that receives blood from the body. |
Ventricle | One of two large, muscular chambers that pump blood out of the heart. |
Cardiac Pacemaker | A group of cells at the top of the right atrium which starts a signal. |
Arteries | Blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart to all parts of the body. |
Veins | Blood vessels that carry blood from all parts of the body back to the heart. |
Capillaries | Tiny blood vessels that connect arteries to veins. |
Red Blood Cells | Full of hemoglobin and carry oxygen to the body. Also return carbon dioxide to the lungs. |
White Blood Cells | BLood cells that protect the body from disease. |
Platelets | Cell fragments that cause blood to clot, which stops blood loss. |
Septum | A wall, dividing a cavity or structure into smaller ones. |
