Indications | to induce sedation before cardioversion or intubation |
Onset/Duration | 1-3 minutes dose dependant; 2-6 hours dose dependant |
Contraindications | hypersensitivity to benzodiazapines, narrow angle glaucoma, shock, coma, acute alcohol intoxication, depressed vital signs, concomitant use of barbiturates, alcohol, narcotic, or other CNS depressants |
Adverse Reactions | hiccough, cough, oversedation, nausea, vomiting, headache, blurred vission, hypotension, respiratory depression, fluctuations in VS's |
Precautions | COPD, CHF, Renal impairment, Elderly |
Dosage/Route | 1-2.5mg slow IV(over 2-3 minutes) may be repeated in small increments, not to exceed 0.1mg/kg |
