| Term | Definition |
| Ribosomes | organelles that make protein and are in both eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells |
| DNA | genetic material that contains all the information of the cell |
| Prokaryote | cell with no nucleus, is small and simple, and has no organelles |
| Eukaryote | cell with a nucleus, is large, has organelles, is complex |
| Organic Molecules | molecules with carbon in them (ex: like all 4 biomolecules) |
| Protein | made of amino acids, involved with muscle development, includes enzymes as an example |
| Carbohydrate | sugars; provide quick energy for cells |
| Lipid | makes up the cell membrane, examples are fats, long term energy storage, good for insulation |
| Nucleic Acid | examples are DNA and RNA; hold a cell's genetic information |
| Enzymes | are specific to certain temperatures; proteins that speed up reactions; end in -ase; denature when not in optimal conditions |
