Term | Definition |
electromagnetic waves | waves that can travel through a vacuum. They do not need a medium. |
refraction | Light is bent when it strikes an object. |
absorption | Light is absorbed. |
reflection | Light is reflected. |
scattering | is the spreading out of light rays in all directions, because particles reflect and absorb the light |
cornea | transparent protective covering located on the front of your eye. |
pupil | Black dot in the center of your eye. Light enters your eye through this opening. |
iris | colorful part of your eye that regulates the size of your pupil |
retina | creates electrical signals that travel through the optic nerve to the brain. |
optic nerve | a bundle of nerve fibers that connect the retina with the brain and help us interpret what we see. |
