1. Photosyntesis | The process by which a cell captures energy in sunlight and uses it to make food. |
2. Autotroph | An organism that makes its own food |
3. Heterotroph | An organism that cannot make its own food |
4. Chlorophyll | The main pigment for photosynthesis in chloroplasts |
5. Cellular Respiration | The process by which cells obtain energy from glucose |
6. Fermentation | An energy releasing process that does not require oxygen |
7. Cell Cycle | The regular sequence of growth and division that cells undergo |
8. Interphase | The first stage of the cell cycle |
9. Replication | Next, the cell makes an exact copy of the DNA in its nucleus |
10. Chromosomes | Within the nucleus, DNA and proteins form threadlike structures called chromosomes |
11. Mitosis | The cell's nucleus divides into two new nuclei and one set of DNA is distributed into each daughter cell |
12. Cytokinesis | The final stage of the cell cycle, completes the process of cell division |
