Cytoplasm | Inside of the cell membrane. Contains a gel-like fluid that moves structures throughout the cell. |
Ribosomes | Located in the cytoplasm. Chemical factories where proteins are produced. |
Flagellum | A long, whiplike structure that helps a cell to move. |
How do bacteria get food? | Either making food or eating other organisms. |
Do they reproduce sexually or asexually? | Both |
Cellular Respiration | The process of breaking down food to release energy. |
Binary Fission | One cell divides to form two identical cells. |
Conjugation | One bacterium transfers some of is genetic material into another bacterium through a thin, threadlike bridge. |
Endospore | rounded, thick-walled resting cell that forms inside of a bacterium. |
Bacteria are involved in oxygen and food production, in health maintenance and medicine production, and in environmental cleanup and recycling: True or False | True |
Pasteurization | The food is heated to a temperature that is high enough to kill most harmful bacteria, without changing the taste of the food. |
