Groundwater | water that fills the cracks and spaces in underground soil and rock layers. |
Water Cycle | the continuous process by which water moves from Earth's surface to the atmosphere and back, driven by energy from the sun and gravity. |
Evaporation | is the process by which molecules at the surface of liquid absorb enough energy to change to a gaseous state. |
Transpiration | Is when the water is given off through the leaves as water vapor. |
Precipitation | Water that falls to the Earth as rain, snow, sleet, or hail. |

Saturated Zone | The area of the permeable rock or soil in which the cracks and pores are totally filled with water. |
Water Table | The top of the saturated zone. |
Aquifers | Any underground layer of permeable rock or sediment that holds water and allows it to flow. |
