Condensation occurs when a substance changes from a gas to a liquid.
Water Vapor is water in the gaseous state
Gravity is a force that attracts all objects towards each other.
Habitat is the place where an organism live and obtains all the things it needs to survive.
Groundwater water that fills the cracks and spaces in underground soil and rock layers.
Water Cycle the continuous process by which water moves from Earth's surface to the atmosphere and back, driven by energy from the sun and gravity.
Evaporation is the process by which molecules at the surface of liquid absorb enough energy to change to a gaseous state.
Transpiration Is when the water is given off through the leaves as water vapor.
Precipitation Water that falls to the Earth as rain, snow, sleet, or hail.
Permeable The size of the pores and the connections between them determine how easily water moves through.
Impermeable Something (ex. granite) that water can not pass through easily.
Unsaturated Zone The layer of the rocks and soil above the water table in which the pores contain air, as well as, water.
Saturated Zone The area of the permeable rock or soil in which the cracks and pores are totally filled with water.
Water Table The top of the saturated zone.
Aquifers Any underground layer of permeable rock or sediment that holds water and allows it to flow.
Artesian Well A well in which water rises because of pressure with in the aquifer.
Wetlands A land area that is covered with a shallow layer of water during some or all of the year.
