Science | The systematic study of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment |
Hypothesis | A possible explanation for a set of observations or answer to a scientific question; must be testable |

Quantitative | Deals with numbers or amounts |

Qualitative | Deals with descriptions or data that cannot be expressed in numbers |
Variable | Characteristic/factor that can affect the result of an experiment |
Independent Variable | Variable that is manipulated (controlled/changed) by the researcher; purposely changed to test the hypothesis |
Dependent Variable | Variable that may change in response to the independent variable |
Control Group | A sample that is treated exactly like the other experimental groups except that the variable is not applied to it |
