Term | Definition |
Mixture | Two or more substances are combined without creating a new substance. |
Solution | A mixture where one substance is dissolved in another. |
Solute | A substance that dissolves in a liquid to form a solution. |
Solvent | A substance in which a solute dissolves to form a solution. |
Dissolve | A solid or a gas seems to completely disappear when it is combined with a liquid. |
Saturated Solution | A solution that cannot dissolve any more solute. |
Concentration | The amount of solute dissolved in a measure of solvent; the ratio of solute amount to the solvent amount. |
Soluble | Able to dissolve in a solvent. |
Insoluble | Not able to dissolve in a solvent. |
Solubility | The degree to which a solute can dissolve. |
