VOCAB TERMS

TermDefinition
Mixture Two or more substances are combined without creating a new substance.
Solution A mixture where one substance is dissolved in another.
Solute A substance that dissolves in a liquid to form a solution.
Solvent A substance in which a solute dissolves to form a solution.
Dissolve A solid or a gas seems to completely disappear when it is combined with a liquid.
Saturated Solution A solution that cannot dissolve any more solute.
Concentration The amount of solute dissolved in a measure of solvent; the ratio of solute amount to the solvent amount.
Soluble Able to dissolve in a solvent.
Insoluble Not able to dissolve in a solvent.
Solubility The degree to which a solute can dissolve.
