| Molten Pig Iron | Liquid iron produced in the blast furnace |

| Scrap Metal | Recycling scrap metal to reproduce steel |
| Oxygen Lance | Blows in oxygen to raise the temperature to melt the charge |

| Water Cooled oxygen Lance | The lance is water cooled to stop it from melting |
| Fume hood | An extractor fan to take away gasses produced |
| Refractory lining | Prevents heat loss and protects the outer layer of the furnace |
| Tapping Spout | The furnace is tilted to allow the molten steel to be removed |
| Slag removal | The furnace is turned upside down to empty the waste |
| Charging the Basket | The lance is removed the furnace is tilted to the side to put in the charge |
