brain stem | the part of the brain that continues downward to form the spinal cord. |
liver | organ that purifies blood, stores sugars and produces bile |
spleen | organ involved in the production and removal of blood cells. it also works as part of the immune system. |
bladder | A saclike structure that stores urine until it can be passed out of the body through the urethra |
vagina | the muscular tube leading from the uterus to the outside of the female body |
larynx | the muscular organ that holds the vocal cords; the voice box |
heart | a hollow muscular organ that pumps the blood through the circulatory system |
gallbladder | an organ in which bile is stored. The bile is then released into the intestine. |
ureter | duct by which urine passes from the kidney to the bladder |
pancreas | a large gland that secretes digestive enzymes and regulates blood sugar |
diaphragm | a dome-shaped muscle that separates the lungs from the abdomen. It plays a major role in breathing. |
